Trivia
In a little more than a week, the Mets are in a position where they should be trading players like Curtis Granderson, Lucas Duda, and Asdrubal Cabrera to help the team build towards the future. This is a tricky task for any GM, and it is a task that Sandy Alderson has not had to embark upon since 2014.
Overall, Sandy’s exploits as a seller at the deadline have been well noted. In fact, through all of his trades, there are currently nine Mets on the 2017 roster who have been obtained via trade. Can you name them? Good luck!
Zack Wheeler Travis d’Arnaud Noah Syndergaard Jerry Blevins Yoenis Cespedes Neil Walker Addison Reed Jay Bruce Fernando Salas
One of the most overlooked parts of the All Star festivities is the Future’s Game. For many, it is the first time you get to see your team’s top prospects. Even better, you get to see them against the other team’s top prospects giving you a chance to judge how your team’s future compares to the other teams in the major leagues.
There have been Mets prospects who have been selected to multiple Future’s Games, and there are others who have used it to showcase the skills that eventually led to them being quickly promoted to the majors. Can you name all of the Mets who have been named to the Future’s Game? Good luck!
Jorge Toca Grant Roberts Alex Escobar Jae Seo Justin Huber Jose Reyes Royce Ring David Wright Yusmeiro Petit Lastings Milledge Matt Lindstrom Deolis Guerra Kevin Mulvey Fernando Martinez Wilmer Flores Jenrry Mejia Matt Harvey Jefry Marte Zack Wheeler Noah Syndergaard Rafael Montero Brandon Nimmo Kevin Plawecki Michael Conforto Dominic Smith Amed Rosario Dilson Herrera Tomas Nido
Recent reports indicate the Mets are not willing to trade Addison Reed or the Mets other trade chips to the Nationals. This is a truly odd decision because the Mets lone goal should be to acquire the best possible assets they can in a deal, especially for those players who are pending free agents.
The decision is also odd because Sandy Alderson has previously made trades with other National League East teams. In each of those trades, the Mets have fared well, which would make you believe Alderson would be willing to deal in the division again. Can you name the players the Mets have traded away in those deals? Good luck!
Matt den Dekker Jerry Blevins John Gant Robert Whalen Juan Uribe Kelly Johnson Eric Young Akeel Morris
Over the past week or so, one of the themes that has emerged was how well Sandy Alderson has drafted since becoming the Mets GM. That was certainly precipitated with Corey Seager and Cody Bellinger beating up on the team in Los Angeles.
However, fact is the Mets have drafted fairly well under Alderson with many of his players already having made it to the majors. Can you name the 19 players who have made it to the majors? Good luck!
Brandon Nimmo Michael Fulmer Cory Mazzoni Logan Verrett Tyler Pill Jack Leathersich Danny Muno Robert Gsellman John Gant Seth Lugo Chase Bradford Gavin Cecchini Kevin Plawecki Matt Reynolds Matt Koch Paul Sewald Robert Whalen Matthew Bowman Michael Conforto
The Mets have added a whole other draft class and with them comes hope they will become great players that will lead the team to another World Series. They were close with Michael Conforto in 2015, and hopefully, they will be close again.
Overall, many will tell you the draft is a crap shoot. Sometimes the best player you draft is towards the end of the draft. The Dodgers can tell you about that with Mike Piazza. Other times, you draft the incredible talent, but you are unable to sign him to a deal. He re-enters the draft, and you see him go and succeed elsewhere. Worse yet, you do sign him, and you trade him before he figures it out.
In any event, the New York Mets have been drafting since 1965. Can you name the 10 best players the Mets have ever drafted? Good luck!
On Monday, MLB draft will begin, and the Mets will look to add their next superstar. The hope is the player drafted becomes the next David Wright and not another Steven Chilcott. There’s certainly hope as with the exception of last year’s draft, every single one of Alderson’s first round draft picks have reached the majors.
Can you name Sandy Alderson’s first round draft picks with the Mets? Good luck!
Justin Dunn Anthony Kay Michael Conforto Dominic Smith Gavin Cecchini Brandon Nimmo Desmond Lindsay Michael Cuddyer
With the way the Mets season has been progressing, it appears Michael Conforto will be the team’s lone All Star. If he is, it will be the 21st time in the Mets 55 year history they have had just one All Star. Can you name the Mets players who were named as the team’s lone All Star? Good luck!
Richie Ashburn Duke Snider Ron Hunt Ed Kranepool Tom Seaver John Stearns Pat Zachry Joel Youngblood Jesse Orosco David Cone Bobby Bonilla Bret Saberhagen Mike Piazza Armando Benitez Daniel Murphy Jacob deGrom
This year the Mets have received some unexpected contributions from T.J. Rivera and Paul Sewald to help keep their season afloat. If both of them are able to keep up this level of production, they will certainly garner some votes the the 2017 National League Rookie of the Year Award.
Believe it or not, if they were to receives those votes, they would only be the 32nd and 33rd players in the 55 year history of the Mets franchise to even receive a vote for Rookie of the Year. Can you name the other 31? Good luck!

Right now, the Mets pitching staff is performing well under expectations. Matt Harvey has a 5.63 ERA. Tommy Milone has a 5.91 ERA with the team. Robert Gsellman has an astounding 7.07 ERA. If all three of these pitchers pitch to an ERA over 5.00, that would more than double the amount of Mets starters who have had an ERA that high in their entire history. Can you name the two starters who have done that? Good luck!
So far this season, Terry Collins is using his bullpen heavily. Part of this is his starters do not go as deep into games as they once did. Another factor is Collins is over-managing at times to the point where he is doing matchups when the Mets have large leads late in games. As a result, four of the bullpen arms are on pace for more than 70 appearances in a season with two others not being far behind.
This would not be the first time Collins had a reliever make 70 appearances in a season. In fact, it won’t be the first time he has had multiple relievers make 70 appearances in the season. Can you name all the relievers who have made over 70 appearances in a season? Good luck!
