This past week, the Mets had their highest first round pick in the Sandy Alderson era, and the organization used it to select OF Jarred Kelenic. If he is like the Mets other first round draft picks, he has a good shot at making the majors. In fact, since Alderson has taken over as General Manager, the Mets have seen 28 of their draft picks make the Major Leagues.

While we are currently hand-wringing to determine whether or not Mickey Callaway is or will be a good manager, we should be taking a step back for a moment and realizing just how poor the Mets managerial history is. Starting with Casey Stengel, the Mets have had 21 managers in their history, and yet, not counting Callaway, there have been only five managers with a winning record.

So far this season, Jacob deGrom has been the best pitcher in the National League going e’s 4-0 with a 1.54 ERA, 0.994 WHIP, and an 11.9 K/9. He leads the league in ERA, WAR (for pitchers), ERA+, and adjusted pitching runs. He’s second in FIP. Should this all continues, and given deGrom’s greatness, he can, we may very well find deGrom winning a Cy Young Award.
That may prove difficult with the absurdly low run support he is receiving. Despite his being 4-0, the Mets are just 5-5 in games he has started with the bullpen blowing multiple great starts of his. At the moment, he is on pace for around 12-13 wins, which would be a low total for a Cy Young winner.
However, it wouldn’t be the lowest. Not by any means. Can you name the pitchers with the fewest wins who have won the Cy Young Award? Good luck!

In Wednesday’s embarrassing loss to the Cincinnati Reds, the Mets had the ultimate indignity of getting caught batting out of order. Apparently, the lineup card Mickey Callaway handed to the umpire had Asdrubal Cabrera batting second and Wilmer Flores batting third.
That’s not what Callaway wanted, but it didn’t matter. The end result was Cabrera’s double was wiped off the board, and Jay Bruce was effectively skipped in the lineup leading to Adrian Gonzalez leading off the next inning.
While embarrassing, you were left with a sense that if a Major League team plays long enough, they will eventually find a way to bat out of order. This statement is mostly true as there are currently five Major League franchises who have still not batted out of order in an MLB game. Can you name them? Good luck!
