With the way players are dropping like flies on the New York Mets, they need Jacob deGrom now more than ever. Well, he’s on the road back with a rehab start.

deGrom pitched three innings, and well, he was deGrom. He was hitting 102 MPH on the gun, and he completely overmatched the hitters of the St. Louis Cardinals Low-A affiliate.

Overall, deGrom pitched three scoreless innings striking out eight of the 10 batters he faced. To that, deGrom made these minor leaguers look exactly like Major Leaguers.

If we see deGrom throwing 102 and striking out everyone he sees, we basically just need to make sure he feels good tomorrow. Should deGrom wake up feeling good tomorrow, the Mets are that much closer to getting the best pitcher in baseball back.

They need it too because the Mets only have two viable starters healthy, maybe just one.
