Couldn’t agree more.
You know, a few years back, we were all envious of the Cubs, who had a handful of terrific core (position) players. The Mets, at that point, had one…Conforto. Nimmo was still a maybe, and so was Rosario. Enter BVW, now we have 7 (do I need to name them all or can you figure it out). In addition, he won the last two drafts with brilliant, savvy strategy. With a lot more money, and somebody to put the cabosh on some of the stupid trades, I would give him another year under Cohen, Alderson before declaring him a failure. You can’t blame him for EVERYTHING! MLB was a total pandemic f*cked up season from day one. And Alderson must know Rojas well if Rojas has been in the org. for 15? years. I thought he did was more respectable than anyone else would have been and I would give him a full 162 game opportunity.
Please name the seven, and please tell me who brought the seven into the Mets organization
WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?
Alonso
Smith
Davis
McNeil
Nimmo
Conforto
Gimenez
I don’t care about their orig. source…5 of those guys were brought up to MLB, given playing time, and allowed to flourish under BVW. BTW, led MLB in batting this year.
Additionally, low minor leaguers have zero value to a team trying to contend, EXCEPT as trade chips. While Cano had a fine year at the plate, in the field, and in the club house, all that really mattered about that deal was the acquisition of Diaz. Our bullpen would have been worthless w/o him. Every team needs a closer.
So those players were brought to the org and developed by Sandy are successful because of BVW?
That’s too funny
A fine review, oldbackstop, especially at 2:21 am.
I agree with everything you say but, not knowing what
kind of guy Cohen is, or what he’s thinking, I won’t be sure
BVW is done until it actually happens. Even Cohen, as a big Met fan,
could see BVW’s draft brilliance, and that he put together a
contending team (on paper) with a Wilpon budget.
