Michael Conforto

Trivia Friday: Mets Best Offensive Seasons

After seeing Pete Alonso set the Major League Rookie Home Run Record, we were all hoping we were going to get to see one of the great offensive seasons we have ever seen. Looking at this Mets team, we could have also seen that from Michael Conforto, Jeff McNeil, or Brandon Nimmo.

Alas, there is no baseball being played right now, and there are no indications when it can be played again. So, instead, it’s looking back at the past. With that in mind, can you name the 10 best offensive seasons in Mets team history? Good luck!

Simulated Recap: Mets Win Ninth Straight

The Mets winning streak is now at nine games. Unlike yesterday when the Mets needed a ninth inning homer to pull out the win, the Mets won this one decisively.

After Marcus Stroman gave up a first inning three run homer, the Mets scored 13 unanswered.

The Mets didn’t score until the fourth when Amed Rosario and Stroman hit back-to-back RBI singles. Jeff McNeil continued his power surge with a go-ahead three run homer.

In the win, Brandon Nimmo hit two homers, and Michael Conforto hit another homer to further his Major League lead. Pete Alonso also homered. Stroman picked up the win in the 13-6 victory.

Simulated Recap: Mets Homer Way To Victory

Michael Conforto got the Mets on the board in the first with the first of his two homers in the game. In the simulated world both Conforto and the Mets are red hot:

Early on this was a back-and-forth affair with both teams scoring in the first two innings. The Marlins led 4-3 until Jeff McNeil tied it on a solo homer in the fifth.

In the sixth, Yoenis Cespedes hit a two run homer giving the Mets the lead for good. When all was said and done, Michael Wacha got the win, Edwin Diaz got the save, and the Mets won 9-5.

Simulated Recap: Mets Hit Four Homers To Destroy Braves

The Mets broke a 2-2 tie in the seventh and then began a complete annihilation of the Atlanta Braves. When all was said and done, they’d win 13-2

Michael Conforto hit two homers, and Pete Alonso finished a triple short of the cycle. The Mets also got homers from Jeff McNeil and Jake Marisnick.

Simulated Recap: Mets Torch Marlins

Last night, the Mets blew a 3-0 lead. Tonight, the Mets were not going to repeat that performance. No, this time Michael Wacha and the Mets made sure to put the Marlins away:

Before you could blink it was 7-1 Mets.

In the first, Robinson Cano hit a bases loaded single giving the Mets a 1-0 lead. In that four run inning, we’d also see Dominic Smith and Amed Rosario deliver RBI single. Smith would knock in another run with a sacrifice fly in the three run second.

Later in the game, Pete Alonso and Michael Conforto would homer in the Mets 9-2 win.

Simulated Recap: Mets Unearned Win

The Mets fell behind 3-0 with the Brewers putting up three through the fourth against Marcus Stroman. The Mets would take the lead in the fifth.

The first run was scored on a comically bad throw to the pitcher on a Michael Conforto grounder. Yoenis Cespedes, Robinson Cano, and Wilson Ramos followed with RBI singles. The Mets didn’t push another across with J.D. Davis striking out with the bases loaded.

With that comically bad error, all the runs were unearned. Whether earned or not, the Mets won 4-3.

Simulated Recap: Buffalo Looks Good In Black

Keston Hiura and Justin Smoak hit a pair of two run homers in the second inning off of Jacob deGrom giving the Brewers an early 2-0 lead. The Mets responded immediately in the bottom half of the inning with a Wilson Ramos solo shot and a Jeff McNeil two RBI double to take a 3-2 lead.

Smoak tied the game back up in the fourth with an RBI double. Ramos’ fifth inning RBI single retook the lead.

Christian Yelich homered off Robert Gsellman to tie the game in the seventh. Gsellman would load the bases that inning, but Jeurys Familia would get out of the jam.

It was Ramos again in the seventh with a go-ahead RBI single scoring Michael Conforto giving the Mets a 5-4 lead.

The Mets would win the game by that score after Edwin Diaz recorded the save. That means the Mets are undefeated this year when wearing their black jerseys on Friday.

Simulated Recap: Mets Bullpen Shuts Down Braves

In the third, Pete Alonso ripped an RBI single, and later that inning, Robinson Cano hit a sacrifice fly scoring Michael Conforto giving the Mets a 2-0 lead over the Braves.

Michael Wacha would make that lead stand holding the Braves to one run over 5.1 innings. Brad Brach, Jeurys Familia, Seth Lugo, and Edwin Diaz combined to pitch 3.2 scoreless to preserve the 2-1 victory.

Simulated Recap: Mets Can’t Complete Comeback

The Mets fell behind 4-0 early in this game with Steven Matz not getting out of the fourth. The Mets pulled within 5-4 with a three run rally in the fifth, but they couldn’t complete the comeback.

The Mets had the bases loaded in that fifth inning, but Jake Marisnick flew out to end the rally.

In the loss, Yoenis Cespedes had a big game going 2-for-5 with a homer and two RBI. Michael Conforto also had a good game going 2-for-5 with a double and a run.

Simulated Recap: Conforto And Ramos Homer Mets To Victory

The Mets feel behind 2-0 before Michael Conforto hit a tying two run homer in the first. In the fourth, Wilson Ramos had his own two run shot.

The Mets held on to beat the hated Atlanta Braves with Marcus Stroman picking up the win, and Edwin Diaz getting the save.
