Happy Birthday Tom Seaver

On this day 75 years ago, George Thomas Seaver, the greatest Mets player ever and perhaps the best right-handed pitcher in Major League history, was born.

In addition to holding almost all of the significant Mets pitching records, he remains the only pitcher in Major League history to win the Rookie of the Year award and three Cy Youngs. This is part of the reason why, to date, no other starting pitcher has received a larger percentage of the Hall of Fame vote.

With all he accomplished, he was the first Mets player to have his number retired, and he will soon be the only Mets player honored with a statue. He closed out Shea with a final pitch to Mike Piazza, and he opened Citi Field by doing the same. Now, fittingly, Citi Field was the address 41 Seaver Way.

For all this and many other reasons, this is why he’s The Franchise.

Hopefully, given all of his health problems, he and his family are able to enjoy this day.

What does this have to do with the disastrous Beltran situation?

Dude, it is the ONLY Mets news, it is NATIONAL, and you won’t comment because you hff ave a man crush on Carlos.

If he is suspended for lying to MLB should the Mets s tree ay with him? Thirty days? Half a year? There are three scenarios….

        1. MLB decides Carlos wasn’t involved or aware of the technology cheating, as he has publicly claimed on the last week, or at least they can’t prove it. Carlos skates with his denial.

        That seems highly unlikely.

        2. Carlos comes clean to MLB to helping devise the technology cheat, and they have mercy on him for honesty.

That would be the best scenario.

        3. Scenario 1, except the evidence and other witnesses is overwhelming, and MLB decides to suspend Carlos for cheating, but more importantly lying about it.

That is the most likely scenario, in my mind.

What do the Mets do under scenarios 2 and 3 regarding the contract of their new manager?

You shoot off opinions from the hip on all sorts of crap every week, and you are hiding under a rock on the most interesting club conundrum in a decade or more?

I think it’s clear why you hate Beltran, and I’m not going to engage.

Since you think I’m racist against Latinos, some dumb reader, when I am married to one, you are going to duck the biggest issue of the Mets last decade?

          2. metsdaddy says:

            You’re obviously trolling

        2. Oldbackstop says:

Lol….if you got truly trolled you’d poop you panties. You don’t know the meaning of the word.

To be silent on Beltran is just pathetic. You lose all credibility.
