Meet The Mets Fan: Faith and Fear in Flushing’s Greg Prince

The Mets Fan

I’m Greg Prince, co-author of Faith and Fear in Flushing, the blog for Mets fans who like to read, founded with my friend and partner Jason Fry, February 16, 2005.

How You Became A Mets Fan

I became a Mets fan in the late summer of 1969, a propitious time for a six-year-old on Long Island to fall in love with baseball. The excitement they were stirring in the papers attracted me, so I tuned in and never tuned out.

Favorite Mets Player

My favorite Met is Tom Seaver. He was my first favorite and remains my forever favorite.

Favorite Moment in Mets History

My personal favorite moment is Melvin Mora scoring on a wild pitch in the ninth inning, October 3, 1999, to send the Mets to at least a Wild Card play-in game. But it’s hard to not objectively rank Mookie’s roller up the first base line No. 1 in franchise history.

Message to Mets Fans

My message to Mets fans is threefold: Hang in there, gang; spring is coming; read Faith and Fear.

  1. Gothamist says:

Mora for Bordick, like Zambrano for …..?
He made some great throws from LF!

  2. Gothamist says:

    LET US CONTINUE…

For those who read, Reyes had a hugely embarrassing law suit last spring.
Incredibly preoccupied and TC was a moron for he was blind!!!
He should of been benched until his head was in the game (mid May?)
He will be a contributor in 2018….

    Duda is a platoon DH…
Keeping him would have been beyond stupidity…
The Mets dumped Murph for partly they could not count on his fielding in a playoff game. Duda would score a 15 on a Wonderlic!
He is a disaster making decisions on s fly..
Like Cespedes he does not hit A pitchers and his splits after inning six suck!
He took $3.5 m and you thought $8-10m
Sometimes you can be wrong, dead wrong…
    You think you are perfect?
You cried for Rosario last May!
Rosario msy start in AAA, his pitch judgment is not MLB yet…
No one on any blog or newspaper saw Duda as a returnee.
I rather use Cabrera or Guillorme as a first baseman.
    Dom Smith will surprise ….

Cespedes is a five hitter, the only contract offer he received was deferred money from Rizzo and Ted Lerner..

Cespedes is a nicer (guy) version of Melo…

    JUST WATCH!

The Mets will have trouble beating the Phillies by seven games in 2018.

Why do you think the Nats gave up so much for Eaton?
They stole the other kid from the Padres and Mike Taylor is legit.
Tbey may win 100 games if Eaton is injury free..
    They have table setters!

Ssh…. no chat chat, let us compare notes later…
